Father's Day 2017

Celebrating this wonderful father.  He just got home from somewhere around the world.

Steve is walking to join the kids in the water- Flordia Keys

Beach camping with the kids.

We went bowling for Father's Day.

The boys talking strategy.  They both had a rough day at the alley.

Stevie stunned that his mother is beating him at bowling.
Can not believe that she bowled another strike.

 Looking promising. . .

 Father's Day monopoly game.

Of course, it would not be Father's Day without Steve fixing a blocked drain.

The kids adore their father.

Chelsea writes the most beautiful cards.  She is truly gifted in her writing.

AAAAh, this is so sweet.

Father's Day 2013

Not much is said about this great man on this blog.  It is nice to have a day that we can honor him and he can get his own blog post.  I am so grateful for how well he looks after our children, how wise he is, and how he is always willing to help each of us.

For Father's Day, Chelsea wrote a beautiful poem for Steve.

She recited the poem for everyone.

The sweet girl is a talented writer.

Of course, Steve makes writing about how wonderful he is pretty easy.

Here are two more wonderful fathers that we get to spend Father's Day with.

Since Steve is the "Best Dad in the Universe," Marky made him three cards.

Dads, Daughters, and Donuts

On a warm Saturday morning, we had quite a few Fathers and daughters over for a
Dads, Daughters, and Donuts event.

We set up several stations around the yard.  The Fathers and Daughters all went around to the stations to do the activities.

The girls filled out questionnaires about their fathers.
Some found it a little challenging recalling their father's "favorites."

Some of the Dads getting acquainted.

I had no idea that the fathers would get so competitive in the three-legged race.

The best (sweetest part) was when each father talked about his daughter and finished the statement, "My Daughter is special because. . . "

The girl's faces lit up with joy as their fathers spoke very sweetly about them.

The girls following their father's directions on how to tie a tie.

We discovered that some of the Dads have hidden talents of hairstyling.

We also had some good nail painters.  Just in case the high tech careers do not work out at least some of the fathers may have  back-up careers.

The pudding in the sugar cone was a real hit with the girls but a real mess with the Dads.

Water balloons and donuts at the end.

Father's Day

I am so lucky to be able to celebrate how great my Father is on Father's Day.

And doubly lucky that my kids also get to celebrate how wonderful their
father and grandfather are for Father's Day.

Marky was so excited to give Steve his card he made at preschool.

Love the anticipation of Marky.

The kids each took a turn giving Steve their special gems of cards.  They had each wrote such thoughtful things.  Chelsea even wrote a poem for the occassion.

Steve sets such a great example for our children.

Aunt Kaye came to celebrate.

Friends for 50 years.

Had a nice backyard BBQ and then a photo op.

We missed Wyatt and Craig, they were preparing for a 50 mile hike to Yosemite.

As we get older, we understand more and more all the sacrifices that our parents made for us.   We appreciate all the lessons taught to us and we find that we parent similar to how our parents parented us.  So grateful to my parents and grandparents for their great examples.
