Happy New Teenager Steven!

We begin 2013 with a new teenager.  Stevie was actually gone on a campout in Death Valley for his birthday.  We sent him a breakfast burrito to eat the morning of his birthday.  When he came home we celebrated his birthday.

Chelsea was very excited for Stevie to open his gift.

We are sure proud parents of this new teenager.

Here are 13 reasons why we love Stevie:
1.  He is a hard worker at school.
2.  He likes to play a lot of sports.
3.  He balances his time well.
4.  He is a great big brother to Marky.
5.  He is helpful around the house.
6.  He is incredibly creative.
7.  He plays legos with Marky.
8.  He chooses great friends.
9.  He is a hard working Boy Scout.
10.  He made the A team in Lacrosse.
11.  He likes pizza, In-N-Out, and Subway.
12 He is good at board games like Risk and Monopoly.
13.  He is a wonderful son.  We love him so much.

Then a few weeks later when everyone was in town, Stevie celebrated with his friends.

Such a great group of boys.  They are all accomplished in school, athletics and music.

Wyatt came up to join the festivities.

A 4 ft long burrito is Stevie's preference instead of a cake.

So we put candles on the burrito of course.

GIFT: Arise and Shine

Our GIFT (Girls in Faith Together) group met in January to begin
the new year with some inspiration.

We tried some sparkly lip gloss

and  made Chinese Lanterns.

Then talked about ways we could Shine our Light in the world this New Year.

Ski Week

We spent a week in Tahoe in January.  We had a great time skiing, sledding and hanging out with friends.

I only have pictures of the kids with their sleds.  Never could catch them skiing because they were always gone skiing.

Marky got up on skis for the first time.  We hired Super Skier Gwen to spend the day with Chelsea and Marky.  Marky did not want to learn to snowplow.  He just wanted to go down the hill without stopping.

Sports in the Bay Area

To be a fan of a Bay Area Sports Team was huge this year.  With the Giants winning the World Series, 49ers in the Superbowl, and our home town team Stanford in the Rose Bowl, we had our fair share of celebrating and tailgating.
Matt inviting a few friends and a cheesehead over to watch the 49ers.

I had cooked and bought a bunch of food for the game.  I underestimated what 4 teenage boys could eat.  It was all gone within the first few minutes of the game.
Matt has such great friends with greater appetites.

We almost did not let the cheesehead in the house when he knocked on our door.  Good thing we like Peter so much (and the 49ers won this game).
Steve and kids happily cheered on Stanford at the Rose Bowl.  They dressed for the occasion.  It was quite an exciting game.  Steve was so happy that his alma mater had won.
Of course, Matt had to watch the Texas game.  Had to get a picture of Matt eating during half-time of his game and Marky with his "Christmas Milk."

And then, just like that football season was done.

We spent a week in December visiting the Happiest Place on Earth.

Cars Land was worth all the hype.

We downloaded apps that let us know the wait time on the rides.   We would quickly run over to whatever ride had the lowest wait times.
We had to be very strategic but got to ride all the rides with a little or no wait.

Marky LOVED the Mater ride.
The lights on Small World were absolutely breathtaking.

We must have rode Space Mountain a dozen times.  Still my favorite ride after all these years.

A little zip lining in Wilderness Explorerer Camp in California Adventure.

The kids loved going to Wildenerness Explorer Camp.
Marky especially enjoyed reading the map and finding the landmarks.

Our favorite ride was Radiator Springs Racers.  Best ride ever.
Kimberly met us a couple of times.  We LOVED spending time with her.

A special visit to Santa Claus.
